A lifetime wait of an experience that's been longed for finally turned into reality. I could simply remember how elated the moment was upon learning that Kygo was going to have his tour here in Singapore back nearly five months ago when tickets were open for sale. Here in Singapore, being the last destination for his Kids In Love tour. If you haven't yet known, Kyrre Gørvell-Dahll, famously known for the stage name of Kygo, is a Norwegian DJ and songwriter who was born here in Singapore, made breakthrough in the music world back in 2014. Many would ponder on the taste of music that's embedded within me but of all the mixes and tapes in the genre of electronic dance music or which many would call it EDM for short, one must say that i grew up living through the beats and tunes of Kygo. Like you could instantly tell if the music came from him just from the backdrop of the tune in it. The kind of liking for music that i have is solely surrounded by indie tunes and a little mix of pop but he was the only musician that captured my sight in the world of electronic dance music with his unique blend of tropical tunes. Collaborations made with many artist from varying genres has simply amazes me from day one as he brings his tunes to a whole new different level.

Reckon for him being born here in Singapore, would simply mean a great deal to be performing back home to where he had his first glimpse of the world. Could hardly recall when i last went for a live concert, thus this felt totally brand new, like as though it was my first. Growing up to his music, it used to be back to basics with music streaming through Youtube and Soundcloud, where it eventually got me hooked onto the tunes he creates. What remained fascinating, well at least for me, was you didn't have to be a wild dance club goer, or be a hyped fanatic of dance music to enjoy the contents of the music being produced to cherish such beats and tunes ringing in your ears. Kygo's tunes meant everything. It'll get you as high up to heaven and even if you don't, you'll be among the clouds with the stars gazing all over you. Perhaps that's how he brought music into life and right straight into my thoughts. It's almost interesting how he didn't have to sing but to just play the sets and the piano tunes he was great at, and well let the lyrics sink in to blend with the mix. To simply put it, there was no need for outstanding artists with amazing vocals to produce a hit with Kygo, but really he lets the tunes strike a home run every single time without doubt.

Frank Walker as Supporting Act on Kygo's Live Tour

Kygo, live in Singapore simply got me hyped from the day of purchase on the tickets. Counting days slowly subdued to that very moment we got onto our physical seats at the Indoor Stadium. A feeling i can't quite explain, blood-filled adrenaline. Waited patiently despite being an hour early before the supporting act begins. It is rather common for most concerts to feature a supporting act before the actual main performer features his moment as part of cross promotional basis, simply regard it as a live commercial following up to the main act of the concert. Just a way to ramp up the hype and get the crowd to fill up the ambiance of the stadium. Being early gave an opportunity to rest from all the walking getting there and a good view to watch the crowd streaming in slowly. An hour of supporting act performed by Frank Walker made me rather skeptical about the crowd turnout as the indoor stadium was partially half filled throughout the performance.

After getting everyone ready and hyped, there was a slight waiting period as the crew prepared the stage for Kygo's appearance which gave ample time for fans to fill up the venue. As soon as that's done, i got pretty moved by the fact that the turnout was eventually pretty huge. It was simply filled almost close to full. That should explain the amount of fans Kygo has here in Singapore like myself. The crowd went crazy as soon as he made appearance onto his DJ live set on stage. Everyone literally stood up and jumped to the beat regardless of where they're positioned, be it whether they got the seated tickets or the standing ones. That was the start of the whole Kygo Experience.

Kygo - Kids In Love Tour in Singapore

Playing a majority of his famous song tracks such as Stargazing, Stole the show to Kids in love, those really brought me to a whole new different level of embracing his tunes especially so when he's just a couple of feet away from where i sat.The vibe was beyond amazing, not forgetting when he played his most recently released track, "Happy Now" featuring Sandro Cavazza whom previously collaborated a piece with the late Avicii, meant a great deal to many of their fans because of how much such collaboration of tunes can really move the world in reminiscent to good old days. After all, music is universal. Let's not forget that he brought along Justin Jesso to perform Stargazing with him, a track deep close to the heart for me.

Like Kygo once said in his video interview, you don't need to jump up and down the dance floor to enjoy his music which was exactly what i was simply doing, sitting while moving to the beat, it was enough to bring me to a whole new different dimension. While the crowd were simply going nuts and behaving like they were in a dance club, it felt there was little need for that but i suppose everyone expresses their liking in many different forms and ways. Kygo's music attracting all the different age groups present there with his piece was indeed beautiful to witness. Some even bringing their whole family along. Mixing some songs from other artists and a majority comprising of his, the concert was all hyped throughout more than two hours. Expressing his additional love for the piano, he played two of his songs flawlessly that the crowd just stood rooted to the ground listening.

No words would ideally match how glad i was that he came, it meant everything. The concert was the best way to mark the closure of the year as a momentous highlight and a great way to begin the month of November. I ain't sure if he will drop by once again the following year for another tour but if he doesn't, i sure am overly glad i did this year.

Thank you Kygo for the experience.
